Dreams

Dreams web definition: A series of images ideas and emotions and sensation that occurs involuntary in the mind. Also a long held ambition or wish. The latter defines my story. Growing up I had the best childhood that any child would dream off. I could do no wrong in my grandparent’s eyes but that would be short lived. As a teenager after many years of back and forth I finally moved in with my mother and the relationship was very testy to say the least. At my lowest point I would bury myself in books by Mark Twain, Jackie Collins, Agatha Christi and the likes. The transportation into another era was the ultimate escapism. I longed to come home from school and hide myself away in my bedroom and shut off the world and everyone in it, escaping to another place and time. Europe, Africa, America ah America! The setting in every story, the talk of love, Manhattan and stores like Tiffany’s Saks Fifth Avenue and the Waldorf Astoria, it sounded so magical. America was described as the land of opportunity everyone in search of the American dream; whatever that was it sounded good. This was the beginning of a dream. I would one day run away to this place in search of my dream that I would make a reality.
